DOSAGE FORM
Tablets
Tablets are solid dosage forms each containing a unit dose of one or more medicaments. They are intended for oral administration. There are various types of tablets such as Film coated, Enteric coated, dispersible, Sustained Release and Bilayered tablets.
Capsules
Hard gelatin capsules are vastly used as a pharmaceutical dosage form due to their elegancy and ease of swallowing. Further it the bitter drugs can be put in the capsule so as to avoid their bitter taste. Hard gelatin capsule have two parts: the Body and the Cap.
Soft Gel
Soft gel capsules consist of a gelatin based shell surrounding a liquid fill. Soft. Gelatin capsules are single piece, hermetically sealed, shells containing a liquid, a suspension, or a semisolid. Like hard gelatin capsules, these are also elegant and provides ease of swallowing to the patients.
Syrup
Syrups are the thick oral liquid formulations containing sugar. The syrups are better than solid orals for patients facing difficulty in swallowing. Such as children and Elderly patients.
Dry Syrup
Dry syrups are the powder mixtures that are required to be mixed with water prior to administration. They are generally used in the pediatric patients. These are often termed as dry powder for reconstitution or powder for oral suspension. These are generally used for the formulation which deteriorates in aqueous environment.
I.V Fluids
Injections are the dosage forms which is used to inject the drug directly in to the body. These dosage forms are sterile and are manufactured in the highly controlled environment. Injections are generally used to provide immediate action or are used for the drugs which have very less bioavailability.
Ointment
These are the preparation which are generally applied on the skin or the mucus membranes. This includes Gels, Ointments creams, lotions, foams etc. These are generally used when the action is required on the skin or mucus membrane.
